About Dr Julian Yu

Known for his patient-focused care and use of cutting-edge surgical technology, he provides advanced, minimally invasive treatments tailored to optimise outcomes, shorten recovery time, and preserve muscle function.

Beyond joint replacement, Dr Yu is skilled in advanced arthroscopic knee surgery, including minimally invasive ACL reconstruction. He regularly treats athletes from professional sports teams across Sydney, helping them return to peak performance with modern, evidence-based techniques.

Dr Yu also has extensive experience in trauma surgery and is a faculty member with AO Trauma, the leading international organisation for orthopaedic trauma education and research. He sits on multiple international advisory boards, reflecting his standing in the global orthopaedic community.

After graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2006, Dr Yu completed his orthopaedic training in Sydney, becoming the youngest graduate in his cohort. He then undertook two years of advanced subspecialty fellowships in hip and knee surgery at world-renowned centres in Edinburgh (UK), Lyon (France), and Sydney.

Dr Yu currently consults and operates across Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore, with hospital appointments at Northern Beaches Hospital and Mater Private Hospital.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr Yu is an avid supporter of rugby, cricket, and basketball and maintains an active lifestyle through regular gym training.
